29 Nov Gratitude Season

Since my own children were preschoolers my husband and I implemented a simple family tradition for the month of November. We will share something we were thankful for about each day as we sat down for dinner every night. It couldn’t be a repeat from the day before, or a copy from someone else’s testimony, forcing ourselves to find God’s goodness over us daily. This practice really stretched us in many positive ways and has created lots of fun memories for our family.
Today, my children are young adults and still looking forward to 30 consecutive days of “Thanksgiving action”.
This year, I decided to do the same thing with my class during our daily devotionals. As a result, my 1st and 2nd graders are becoming more aware of God’s love and care for them. It’s important to know that every time we read scriptures regarding giving thanks to God, they are in the form of command sentences. These can only be translated as God’s intention to reveal to us that giving thanks to Him is an imperative, yet subliminal act of obedience and reverence towards Him. Let’s press on preserving and passing our legacy of faith, gratitude, and praise to the next generation.
1 Chronicles 16:34 “Give thanks to the Lord, because He is good. His faithful love continues forever”.
